I visited my nieces home one day last week.
It was evening and Mia and her mum were home
Sian has a downstairs room all to herself, next door to the kitchen and close to the bathroom.
Baby Mia was crying, hungry, niece was busy making the bottle and cooking dinner, so, I asked Sian if I could hold her
I just did what I did with my babies and she settled as long as I talked and kept her moving.
When the bottle was ready, I fed her that too, but she was tired and windy by then and didnt drink much.
I stayed for over an hour.
I connected and fell in love with little Mia.
My niece has given up work to look after her, her husband changed the downstairs room into a bedsit for Sian and baby.
Sian cant wait to go back to school.
She is still a child, she does her best with Mia, but hasnt a clue tbh.
I am really proud of them all as a family.
There has been no judgement, no harsh words, just acceptance and doing the best they can for one another.
